Title: SLIDE BEARING
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a novel slide bearing and an operating method for the same. The invention proposes that an additional lubrication film thickness in the bearing is produced in order to alter the dynamic bearing properties. The bearing shell is divided; the upper part is fixedly connected to the housing and the lower part is movable and fitted with pre-stressed spring elements and a viscous damping element. This allows a relative movement between the two bearing half-shells. In the event of a resonance transition, the pre-stressed spring elements are bypassed and the movable bearing half-shell is deflected, which leads to an additional lubrication film area in the bearing during this passive displacement. The general concept is to alter the damping and rigidity coefficients with this additional lubrication film area, but only when the system passes through the critical speed, in order to reduce rotor vibration. At rotational speeds outside the resonance range, the bearing is fixed (closed), and thus behaves as it was designed to do under nominal operating conditions.
