Abstract:
(EN) The invention relates to a CO2 laser which allows for rapid power modulation, particularly highly efficient Q-switching. The key concept is the sub-division of the resonator into a high-power branch, containing inter alia the active medium (1), and a low-power feedback branch (14), in which the power-sensitive beam-shaping elements, particularly the modulators, are arranged. This is made possible by a suitable arrangement of a polarisation beam splitter (5) and a λ/4-phase shifter (2). The free adjustability of an angle φ between said two components permits the extremely flexible realisation of various operating modes, particularly optimisation of the feedback degree during pulse generation.
(FR) L'invention concerne un laser à CO2 qui permet une modulation de puissance rapide, en particulier un déclenchement à haut rendement. Le concept de base consiste ici à subdiviser le résonateur en une branche à haute puissance, contenant entre autres le milieu actif (1), ainsi qu'en une branche de rétroaction à faible puissance (14) dans laquelle sont disposés les éléments de formation du faisceau sensibles à la puissance, en particulier les modulateurs. Ceci est rendu possible par une disposition appropriée d'un diviseur de faisceau de polarisation (5) et d'un déphaseur λ/4 (2). Grâce à la possibilité de régler librement un angle φ entre ces deux composants, différents modes de fonctionnement peuvent être réalisés de manière extraordinairement flexible, en particulier l'optimisation du degré de rétroaction lors de la génération des impulsions.
(DE) Gegenstand der Erfindung ist ein CO2-Laser, der eine schnelle Leistungsmodulation, insbesondere eine hocheffiziente Güteschaltung ermöglicht. Kerngedanke ist dabei die Unterteilung des Resonators in einen Hochleistungszweig, der u.a. das aktive Medium (1) enthält, sowie einen Niederleistungs-Rückkoppelzweig (14), in dem die leistungsempfindlichen Elemente zur Strahlformung, insbesondere die Modulatoren, angeordnet sind. Ermöglicht wird dies durch eine geeignete Anordnung eines Polarisationsstrahlteilers (5) und eines λ/4-Phasenschiebers (2). Die freie Einstellbarkeit eines Winkels φ zwischen diesen beiden Bauelementen gestattet die außerordentlich flexible Realisierung verschiedener Betriebsarten, insbesondere die Optimierung des Rückkoppelgrades bei der Impulserzeugung.
