Title: OPTICAL SIGNAL TO NOISE RATIO MONITORING DEVICE AND METHOD FOR WAVELENGTH DIVISION MULTIPLEXING SYSTEM
Abstract:
An optical signal to noise ratio (OSNR) monitoring device and method for a wavelength division multiplexing system. The device comprises a wavelength label analyzing unit, an optical performance monitoring unit, and an OSNR calculation unit. The wavelength label analyzing unit receives a monitoring optical signal provided by a wavelength division multiplexing system, obtains signal power of a channel of each wavelength signal in the monitoring optical signal, and sending the signal power to the OSNR calculation unit. The optical performance monitoring unit receives a monitoring optical signal provided by the wavelength division multiplexing system, obtains the total power of the channels of all wavelength signals in the monitoring optical signal, and sends the total power to the OSNR calculation unit. The OSNR calculation unit obtains the OSNR of the wavelength division multiplexing system according to the signal power of each channel and the total power sent by the wavelength label analyzing unit and the optical performance monitoring unit.
