Title: ADAPTER SYSTEM FOR AN ENDOPROSTHESIS
Abstract:
The invention relates to a periprosthetic adapter system for an implanted stem of an endoprosthesis. The aim of the invention is to provide a periprosthetic adapter system for an already implanted stem of an endoprosthesis, which adapter system stabilises the seating of the prosthesis stem in the bone and at the same time improves the post-operative care of periprosthetic fractures, reducing the stresses for the patient. Said aim is achieved in that the adapter system comprises: a) a set of a plurality of cylindrical hollow test sheaths (2) each having different interior shapes (4) cut at least half-way in the direction of the cylinder axis (ZA) for determining the geometry that largely corresponds to the outer form of the distal end (5) of the stem (6); b) a set of distally closed but proximally open implant sheaths (7) corresponding at least in the interior shape (4) to the set of test sheaths (2) for selection of the suitable implant sheath for the receptacle and frictional embedding of the distal end (5) of the stem (6) into the implant sheath by means of bone cement (24); c) a nail (10) inserted into the bone and having a cylindrical nail neck (9); and d) a connecting means (11) for the end (5) of the stem (6) cemented into the implant sheath (7) and the nail (10) in the form of a module that is known per se and consists of at least two half-shells (12.1, 12.2) which are divided in the axial direction of the module, are releasably connected to one another, and which together form an axially extending leadthrough (13) for introducing the distal end (16) of the implant sheath (7) and the proximal nail neck (9), wherein by clamping means positioned perpendicular to the axial direction (AR) the half-shells (12.1, 12.2) fix the nail neck (9) and the implant sheath (7) in the leadthrough (13) in the manner of clamping jaws.
