Abstract
(EN) An active, transparency-controlled window comprises at least one layer of a material that is transparent to at least selected wavelengths of light; at least one layer of photochromic material having a transparency, to the at least selected wavelengths of light, that can be controllably altered by an activating light; and a controllable source of light that activates the photochromic material to controllably alter the transparency of the photochromic material to the at least selected wavelengths of light. The material that is transparent to at least selected wavelengths of light may be a material selected from the group consisting of glass and plastic.
(FR) Selon l'invention, une fenêtre dotée d'un contrôle actif de la transparence comprend : au minimum une couche d'un matériau qui est transparent pour au moins des longueurs d'onde de lumière sélectionnées ; au minimum une couche de matériau photochromique qui présente une transparence pour lesdites longueurs d'onde de lumière sélectionnées, cette transparence pouvant être modifiée de façon contrôlable par une lumière d'activation ; ainsi qu'une source de lumière contrôlable qui active le matériau photochromique afin de modifier de façon contrôlable la transparence de ce matériau photochromique pour lesdites longueurs d'onde de lumière sélectionnées. Le matériau qui est transparent pour au moins des longueurs d'onde de lumière sélectionnées peut être un matériau sélectionné parmi le groupe constitué par du verre et du plastique.
