What is described is a system for three-dimensional stereoscopic rendering of virtual objects in a scenario by means of a display screen (S) with respect to which an observer (O) can move. This system overcomes the problems of incorrect perception of three- dimensionality which are present in prior art stereoscopic rendering systems. The system comprises a device (20) adapted to detect the coordinates of the respective observation position (OL,R) in a predetermined reference system related to the screen (S), by computing (estimating) the positions of the observer's eyes, and includes a processing unit (10) adapted to generate, for each object point (T), a pair of corresponding image points (tiL, tiR) on the screen (S), which are selectively visible to the observer (O) and are related to the detected current observation position (OiL,R).

L'invention concerne un système permettant un rendu stéréoscopique tridimensionnel d'objets virtuels dans un scénario au moyen d'un écran d'affichage (S) par rapport auquel un observateur (O) peut se déplacer. Ce système résout les problèmes de perception incorrecte de la tridimensionnalité qui sont présents dans les systèmes de rendu stéréoscopique de l'état de la technique. Le système comprend un dispositif (20) conçu pour détecter les coordonnées de la position d'observation respective (OL,R) dans un système de référence prédéterminé associé à l'écran (S), en calculant (estimant) les positions des yeux de l'observateur, et comporte une unité de traitement (10) conçue pour générer, pour chaque point d'objet (T), une paire de points d'image correspondants (tiL, tiR) sur l'écran (S), qui sont visibles sélectivement pour l'observateur (O) et sont associés à la position d'observation courante détectée (OiL,R).
