(EN)A system and method for performing Laser Induced Optical Breakdown (LIOB) on a target tissue includes a detector for imaging the interface surface between the target tissue and a base tissue. Also included is a laser unit for generating a laser beam, and for focusing the laser beam to a focal point. A computer is provided for controlling movement of the focal point. Specifically, this control is accomplished to maintain the focal point in the target tissue, but beyond a predetermined distance from the interface surface. For the present invention, the predetermined distance is established by considerations of laser beam geometry, which are applied in the context of images that are created of the interface surface.
(FR)Cette invention concerne un système et une méthode permettant d'effectuer une rupture optique induite par laser (Laser Induced Optical Breakdown, LIOB) sur un tissu cible, ledit système comprenant un détecteur produisant des images de la surface d'interface entre le tissu cible et le tissu de base. L'invention concerne également une unité laser qui génère un faisceau laser et le concentre sur un point focal. Le déplacement du point focal est commandé par un ordinateur. Ce contrôle permet de maintenir le point focal sur le tissu cible, mais au-delà d'une distance prédéfinie de la surface d'interface. Cette distance prédéfinie est établie en fonction de la géométrie du faisceau laser, elle-même tributaire des images de la surface d'interface qui sont créées.
