(EN)Disclosed are methods and apparatuses pertaining to measuring DNA damage due to exposure to ultraviolet light, as measured by formation of pyrimidine-pyrimidine dimers in a polynucleotide. The apparatuses can be in the form of a patch which can be particularly useful in measuring the effectiveness of a sunscreen. The apparatuses can further include a reporter agent for instant determination of the pyrimidine-pyrimidine dimer formation.
