Abstract
(EN) A laser stethoscope employs a laser Doppler vibrometry technique in which the beam from a laser diode is focused upon the reflective inner surface of a first diaphragm, which is spaced from a second diaphragm positioned for contact against a patient's skin. Self-mixing of laser light reflected from the first diaphragm with light from the laser produces interference fringes, which are monitored for generating signals representative of internal bodily pressure change.
(FR) L'invention concerne un stéthoscope laser qui emploie une technique de mesure de vibrations Doppler laser dans laquelle le faisceau provenant d'une diode laser est focalisé sur la surface interne réfléchissante d'un premier diaphragme, qui est espacé d'un second diaphragme positionné pour venir en contact contre la peau d'un patient. Le mélange automatique de la lumière laser réfléchie par le premier diaphragme avec la lumière provenant du laser produit des franges d'interférence, celles-ci étant surveillées pour générer des signaux représentatifs d'un changement de pression corporelle interne.
