(EN)A high-harmonic optical generator (100) comprising a laser arrangement (102) and an optical waveguide (104), wherein the laser arrangement is configured to couple a beam (E) of linearly polarized radiation at a fundamental frequency (COQ) into the optical waveguide to provide a beam of optical driving radiation that propagates along a propagation axis (112) of the optical waveguide. The optical waveguide (104) has a hollow core (108) filled with a gaseous medium where generation of high harmonics of the fundamental frequency takes place. The generator is configured for the driving radiation to have a polarization el I i pticity (150i, 150ii, 150iii, 150iv, 150v, 150vi, 150vii, 150viii) that periodically varies along the propagation axis (112) of the optical waveguide (104), for example by coupling the linearly-polarized beam (E) into a birefringent optical waveguide, which has an ordinary axis (A0) and an extraordinary axis (Ae), with the linear polarization (150i) of the beam (E) forming an angle (Θ) greater than 0° and less than 90° with respect to the birefringent axes.
(FR)La présente invention concerne un générateur optique d'harmoniques d'ordre élevé comprenant un dispositif laser et un guide d'ondes optiques. Le dispositif laser est conçu pour coupler un faisceau de rayonnement à polarisation linéaire à une fréquence fondamentale dans le guide d'ondes optiques de façon à former un faisceau de rayonnement d'excitation optique qui se propage le long d'un axe de propagation du guide d'ondes optiques. Le guide d'ondes optiques comporte un cœur creux destiné à un milieu gazeux de génération d'harmoniques permettant une génération d'harmoniques d'ordre élevé de la fréquence fondamentale.
