(EN)Provided is an automatic transmission in which a centrifugal balance chamber overlaps with a friction plate in the axial direction, wherein worsening of fuel consumption is suppressed while compactness in the axial direction is maintained. An automatic transmission (1) comprises a second friction plate (17) that fastens a second drum (27) and a second hub (37), a second fastening hydraulic chamber (67) and a second centrifugal balance chamber (77), and a second piston (47) that fastens or releases the second friction plate (17); the second centrifugal balance chamber (77) overlaps with the second friction plate (17) in the axial direction. Further provided is a second oil path (9) for discharging hydraulic oil that is in the second centrifugal balance chamber (77) at a position that does not overlap with the second friction plate (17) in the axial direction.
