In a particular embodiment, a method includes storing first channel information related to a first communication channel that a first apparatus is capable of communicating over and a second communication channel that the first apparatus is communicating over via a first access point. The method also includes receiving a direct link setup message from a second apparatus to form a direct link between the first apparatus and the second apparatus. The direct link setup message includes second channel information related to a third communication channel the second apparatus is capable of communicating over and a fourth communication channel the second apparatus is communicating over via a second access point. The method further includes selecting at least one communication channel for communication based on the first channel information and the second channel information.

Selon un mode de réalisation particulier, l'invention concerne un procédé qui consiste à stocker des premières informations de canal concernant un premier canal de communication sur lequel un premier appareil est apte à communiquer et un deuxième canal de communication sur lequel le premier appareil est en train de communiquer par l'intermédiaire d'un premier point d'accès. Le procédé consiste également à recevoir un message d'établissement de liaison directe d'un second appareil afin de former une liaison directe entre le premier appareil et le second appareil. Le message d'établissement de liaison directe comprend des secondes informations de canal concernant un troisième canal de communication sur lequel le second appareil est apte à communiquer et un quatrième canal de communication sur lequel le second appareil est en train de communiquer par l'intermédiaire d'un second point d'accès. Le procédé consiste en outre à sélectionner au moins un canal de communication pour la communication sur la base des premières et des secondes informations de canal.
