The present invention relates to a process for preparing a multistage phosphorus acid functionalized latex polymer comprising the steps of: a) contacting a first acrylic monomer with a first phosphorus acid monomer under emulsion polymerization conditions to form a first stage polymer; then b) contacting the first stage polymer with a second acrylic monomer and a second phosphorus acid monomer under emulsion polymerization conditions to form the latex polymer. The latex polymer is useful as an absorbing polymer for pigment particles used, for example, in coatings formulations.

La présente invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'un polymère à plusieurs stades à base de latex fonctionnalisé par un acide phosphoré. Ce procédé comporte les étapes suivantes : a) la mise en contact d'un premier monomère acrylique avec un premier monomère acide phosphoré dans des conditions de polymérisation en émulsion afin de former un polymère de premier stade ; puis b) la mise en contact du polymère de premier stade avec un second monomère acrylique et un second monomère acide phosphoré dans des conditions de polymérisation en émulsion afin de former le polymère de latex. Le polymère de latex est utile comme polymère absorbant pour des particules de pigments utilisées, par exemple, dans des formulations de revêtement.
