Provided is a structure capable of ensuring strength of an entire steering column while keeping down the thickness of a part of the tubular steering column. An outer column (10b), which is a column member configuring the steering column, is formed by axially coupling a light alloy main portion (18) and an iron-based alloy tubular member (19). At the coupling portion of the main portion (18) and the tubular member (19), a metal ring (22) is fitted and fixed in the inner diameter side of the tubular member (19). The inner diameter of the ring (22) is greater than or equal to the inner diameter of the portion of the main portion (18) separated in the axis direction from the portion where the main portion (18) is coupled with the tubular member (19), and is less than or equal to the inner diameter of the tubular member (9).

L'invention concerne une structure permettant de garantir la résistance de l'intégralité d'une colonne de direction tout en réduisant l'épaisseur d'une partie de la colonne de direction tubulaire. Une colonne externe (10b), qui est un élément de colonne configurant la colonne de direction, est formée en accouplant de manière axiale une partie principale composée d'un alliage léger (18) et un élément tubulaire composé d'un alliage à base de fer (19). Au niveau de la partie d'accouplement de la partie principale (18) et de l'élément tubulaire (19), une bague métallique (22) est montée et fixée dans le côté de diamètre interne de l'élément tubulaire (19). Le diamètre interne de la bague (22) est supérieur ou égal au diamètre interne de la partie de la partie principale (18) séparée dans la direction axiale de la partie dans laquelle la partie principale (18) est accouplée à l'élément tubulaire (19) et est inférieur ou égal au diamètre interne de l'élément tubulaire (9).
