The present invention provides a simplified method of controlling power among the various sources and loads in a power system. Power generating sources are each connected to a common DC bus through a converter. The converter selectively transfers energy to the DC bus at a maximum rate or at a reduced rate according to the level of the DC voltage present on the DC bus. At least one storage device is preferably connected to the common DC bus through a power regulator. The power regulator selectively transfers energy to or from the DC bus as a function of DC voltage level present on the DC bus. Further, an inverter may be provided to bidirectionally convert between the DC voltage and an AC voltage for connection to a customer load or the utility grid. Each power conversion device is independently controlled to provide a modular and simplified power control system.

La présente invention porte sur un procédé simplifié de régulation de puissance parmi les diverses sources et charges dans un système électrique. Des sources de production d'énergie sont connectées chacune à un bus à courant continu (CC) commun par l'intermédiaire d'un convertisseur. Le convertisseur transfère sélectivement de l'énergie au bus CC à un débit maximal ou à un débit réduit en fonction du niveau de la tension continue présente sur le bus CC. Au moins un dispositif de stockage est de préférence connecté au bus CC commun par l'intermédiaire d'un régulateur de puissance. Le régulateur de puissance transfère sélectivement de l'énergie vers le bus CC ou depuis celui-ci en fonction du niveau de tension continue présent sur le bus CC. En outre, un onduleur peut être utilisé pour effectuer une conversion bidirectionnelle entre la tension continue et une tension alternative pour une connexion à une charge d'abonné ou au réseau de distribution électrique. Chaque dispositif de conversion de puissance est indépendamment commandé afin de fournir un système de régulation de puissance modulaire et simplifié.
