The purpose of the present invention is to provide a relay device, etc., whereby it is possible to efficiently transfer packets while maintaining fault tolerance in a content distribution service, etc., using IP multicasting. FEC identification information is extracted from a first packet header, a parameter is derived on the basis of the extracted FEC identification information, a second code is generated on the basis of the derived parameter, a second packet is generated on the basis of the first packet and the second code, and the second packet is transmitted.

La présente invention concerne notamment un dispositif de relais permettant de transférer efficacement des paquets tout en conservant une tolérance de panne, notamment dans un service de distribution de contenus, lorsqu'on recourt à la diffusion à destinataires multiples par protocole Internet. On extrait de l'en-tête d'un premier paquet l'information d'identification de la correction d'erreurs sans voie de retour. On se base sur l'information d'identification de la correction d'erreurs sans voie de retour pour déduire un paramètre sur la base duquel on génère un second code. On se base enfin sur le premier paquet et le second code pour générer un second paquet. Il ne reste plus qu'à transmettre le second paquet.
