The invention relates to a method for carrying out the continuous hydrolysis of organic matter, in particular sludge produced during water treatment, in order to provide organic matter which has been rendered hygienic and which can be easily digested and dehydrated, said method including the following steps: pumping (1) the matter to be treated so as to carry out the pressurised injection thereof into a treatment circuit comprising a hydrolysis reactor (11); heating the matter prior to said matter entering the reactor; hydrolysis in the reactor; decompressing (12) the hydrolysed matter prior to the discharge thereof, and discharging the hydrolysed matter, wherein the heating of the sludge involves a heat exchanger (H) between the sludge and the fumes from combustion or incineration, and the reactor (11) being a plug flow reactor that is placed in a recirculation loop (B) formed with the heat exchanger (H) between the sludge and the fumes.

Procédé pour effectuer en continu l'hydrolyse de matières organiques, en particulier de boues produites lors du traitement des eaux, pour fournir des matières organiques hygiénisées facilement digérables et déshydratables, comprenant les étapes suivantes: un pompage (1) des matières à traiter pour les introduire sous pression dans un circuit de traitement comportant un réacteur d'hydrolyse (11); un chauffage des matières avant leur entrée dans le réacteur; une hydrolyse dans le réacteur; une décompression (12) des matières hydrolysées avant leur sortie, et une sortie des matières hydrolysées; le chauffage des boues comprend un échangeur de chaleur (H) entre les boues et des fumées provenant d'une combustion ou d'une incinération, et le réacteur (11) est du type à flux piston et est placé dans une boucle de recirculation (B) formée avec l'échangeur de chaleur (H) entre les boues et les fumées.
