Abstract

The invention provides a method and apparatus for electronically testing the safety of sources of energy such as electrical circuits, in explosive atmospheres such as high risk mining situations, using an electronic spark tester (EST) in place of the known mechanical spark test apparatus (STA). The EST typically uses an analogue subsystem (5) and a digital subsystem (6) connected by a digital to analogue converter (7) and an analogue to digital connector (8) to apply a simulated spark load to the energy source and measure the time varying current response to that load.

L'invention concerne un procédé et un appareil permettant de tester électroniquement la sécurité de sources d'énergie telles que des circuits électriques, dans des atmosphères explosives telles que des situations d'extraction minière à haut risque, au moyen d'un appareil d'essai à l'étincelle électronique au lieu des appareils d'essai à l'étincelle mécaniques des antériorités. L'appareil d'essai à l'étincelle électronique selon l'invention met en oeuvre un sous-système analogique (5) et un sous-système numérique (6) connectés par un convertisseur numérique-analogique (7) et par un convertisseur analogique-numérique (8) pour appliquer une charge d'étincelle simulée sur la source d'énergie et mesurer la réponse de courant variant dans le temps à cette charge.
