Abstract

Impact-modified polystyrene resins such as HIPS and ABS resins are blended with a brominated vinyl aromatic-butadiene copolymer. The brominated copolymer is an effective flame retardant in these compositions, allowing in many cases a V-1 rating to be achieved in the UL-94 vertical burn test.

L'invention concerne des résines de polystyrène modifiées choc telles que des résines HIPS et ABS, qui sont mélangées avec un copolymère vinyl aromatique-butadiène bromé. Le copolymère bromé est un retardeur de flamme efficace dans ces compositions, permettant dans de nombreux cas à une évaluation V-1 d'être atteinte dans l'essai de combustion verticale UL-94.
