A method for providing network-based content to an in-vehicle telematics system is shown and described. The method includes include establishing a communications link between communications electronics of the vehicle telematics system and a remote content management server in communication with a plurality of remote content providers. The method further includes using the communications link to communicate with the remote content management server using an application programming interface. The processing electronics receives content from the plurality of remote content providers via the application programming interface. The communication between the remote content management server and at least one of the plurality of remote content providers is conducted according to a protocol for which the vehicle telematics system does not have an interface.

L'invention se rapporte à un procédé permettant de fournir un contenu réseau à un système télématique à bord d'un véhicule. Ledit procédé consiste à mettre en place une liaison de communication entre l'électronique de communication du système télématique du véhicule et un serveur de gestion de contenu distant en communication avec une pluralité de fournisseurs de contenu distant. Ledit procédé consiste en outre à utiliser la liaison de communication pour communiquer avec le serveur de gestion de contenu distant au moyen d'une interface de programmation d'applications. L'électronique de traitement reçoit le contenu en provenance de la pluralité de fournisseurs de contenu distant par le biais de ladite interface de programmation d'applications. La communication entre le serveur de gestion de contenu distant et un ou plusieurs fournisseurs de contenu distant de la pluralité de fournisseurs de contenu distant s'effectue selon un protocole pour lequel le système télématique du véhicule ne possède pas d'interface.
