Title (EN) ATOMS AND MOLECULES FOR CONSTRUCTIONS
(FR) ATOMES ET MOLÉCULES POUR CONSTRUCTIONS
Abstract:
(EN) This assembly is composed of a superposition of polyhedra, of a novel family. The icosahedron is the first of this series. It may be broken down into an antiprism and a crown of toric appearance that surrounds it. We call it atom (A3) since it is of order 3. All these base atoms (A3, A4, A5), composed of an antiprism and of a toric crown, may be divided into half-shells (C3, C4, C5), the regrouping of which makes it possible to produce molecules (M3, M4, M5). The cohesion is achieved owing to permanent magnets. The molecules are combined together in order to constitute macromolecules (MM3, MM4, MM5). These macromolecules are bound together by common atoms and create isotropic media that are capable of filling the space homogeneously. These polyhedra make it possible to devise new shapes for sports balls. Architecture, optics and jewellery may find an interest therein and perhaps biologists will be able to imagine cell constructions.
