Aerogel particles are impregnated with a volatile liquid. Organic polymer foams are made in the presence of the impregnated aerogel particles. The volatile liquid volatilizes during the foaming process, resulting in a composite foam in which the dispersed aerogel particle are filled with gas. The composite foams have exceptionally low thermal conductivities.

Selon l'invention, des particules d'aérogel sont imprégnées d'un liquide volatil. Des mousses de polymère organique sont fabriquées en présence des particules d'aérogel imprégnées. Le liquide volatil se vaporise pendant le procédé de formation de mousse, ce qui conduit à une mousse composite dans laquelle les particules d'aérogel dispersées sont remplies de gaz. Les mousses composites ont des conductivités thermiques exceptionnellement faibles.
