Abstract:
(EN) A method of operating an electronically controlled dual fuel compression ignition engine (5) includes injecting a pilot ignition quantity of liquid fuel into an engine cylinder (7) from a dual fuel injector (12) in an engine cycle during an auto ignition condition. An amount of gaseous fuel is also injected into the engine cylinder (7) from the dual fuel injector (12) in the same engine cycle. The amount of gaseous fuel is divided between a pre-mix quantity of gaseous fuel, which may be injected about 90° before top dead center, and a post ignition quantity of gaseous fuel that may be injected after top dead center, with both quantities being greater than zero. An engine controller may change a ratio of the pre-mix quantity of gaseous fuel to the post ignition quantity of gaseous fuel responsive to changing from a first engine speed and load to a second engine speed and load. The pilot ignition quantity of liquid fuel is compression ignited, which in turn causes the gaseous fuel to be ignited. A pre-mix quantity of liquid fuel may also be included in order to speed the combustion process at higher engine speeds.
(FR) L'invention a pour objet un procédé pour commander un moteur à deux carburants à allumage par compression à commande électronique (5), qui consiste à injecter une quantité d'allumage pilote de carburant liquide dans un cylindre (7) du moteur au moyen d'un injecteur à deux carburants (12) dans un cycle du moteur dans un état d'auto-allumage. Une quantité de carburant gazeux est aussi injectée dans le cylindre (7) du moteur par l'injecteur à deux carburants (12) dans le même cycle du moteur. La quantité de carburant gazeux est divisée en une quantité de pré-mélange de carburant gazeux, qui peut être injectée environ 90° avant le point mort haut, et une quantité de post-allumage de carburant gazeux qui peut être injectée après le point mort haut, les deux quantités étant supérieures à zéro. Une unité de commande du moteur peut faire varier le rapport entre la quantité de pré-mélange du carburant gazeux et la quantité de post-allumage du carburant gazeux en réponse à une variation qui passe d'une première vitesse et d'une première charge du moteur à une seconde vitesse et à une seconde charge du moteur. La quantité d'allumage pilote de carburant liquide est allumée par compression, ce qui à son tour a pour effet d'allumer le carburant gazeux. Une quantité de pré-mélange de carburant liquide peut aussi être comprise pour accélérer le processus de combustion aux grandes vitesses du moteur.
