Abstract

A fingerprinting method comprising, for each round in a series of rounds: providing to each receiver in a set of receivers a version of a source item of content, the source item of content corresponding to the round, wherein for the round there is a corresponding part of a fingerprint-code for the receiver, the part comprising one or more symbols, wherein the version provided to the receiver represents those one or more symbols; obtaining, from a suspect item of content one or more corresponding symbols as a corresponding part of a suspect-code; for each receiver in the set of receivers, updating a corresponding score that indicates a likelihood that the receiver is a colluding-receiver, wherein a colluding-receiver is a receiver that has been provided with a version of a source item of content that has been used to generate a suspect item of content, wherein said updating is based on the fingerprint-code for the receiver and the suspect-code; for each receiver in the set of receivers, if the score for the receiver exceeds a threshold, updating the set of receivers by removing the receiver from the set of receivers so that the receiver is not provided with a further version of a source item of content, wherein the threshold is set such that the probability that a receiver that is not a colluding-receiver has a score exceeding the threshold is at most a predetermined probability.

L'invention concerne un procédé de prise d'empreintes digitales comprenant, pour chaque tour d'une série de tours : fournir à chaque récepteur d'un ensemble de récepteurs une version d'un élément source de contenu, l'élément source de contenu correspondant au tour, une partie correspondante d'un code d'empreinte digitale en ce qui concerne le tour existant pour le récepteur, la partie comprenant un ou plusieurs symboles, la version fournie au récepteur représentant ces un ou plusieurs symboles ; obtenir, à partir d'un élément suspect de contenu un ou plusieurs symboles correspondants comme une partie correspondante d'un code suspect ; pour chaque récepteur de l'ensemble de récepteurs, mettre à jour un score correspondant qui indique une probabilité que le récepteur est un récepteur colludant, un récepteur colludant étant un récepteur qui a reçu une version d'un élément source de contenu qui a été utilisé pour générer un élément suspect de contenu, ladite mise à jour étant basée sur le code d'empreintes digitales pour le récepteur et le code suspect ; pour chaque récepteur de l'ensemble de récepteurs, si le score pour le récepteur excède un seuil, mettre à jour l'ensemble de récepteurs en enlevant le récepteur de l'ensemble de récepteurs de telle sorte que le récepteur ne comprenne pas une version ultérieure d'un élément source de contenu, le seuil étant fixé de façon que la probabilité qu'un récepteur qui n'est pas un récepteur colludant ait un score excédant le seuil soit pratiquement une probabilité prédéterminée.
