A power transfer unit comprising a first shaft configured to receive an input torque from a first vehicle component, a second shaft configured to selectively receive the torque from the first shaft and transmit the torque to a second vehicle component, an engaging mechanism, a housing configured to enclose at least a portion of the power transfer unit, and a seal system having a first seal and a second seal. The engaging mechanism configured to operate in a first mode and a second mode. When in the first mode, the engaging mechanism selectively couples the second shaft to the first shaft, and when in the second mode, the second shaft is decoupled from the first shaft. The first seal is disposed between the housing and a first end of the second shaft, and the second seal is disposed between the housing and a second end of the second shaft.

La présente invention concerne une unité de transfert d'énergie comprenant un premier arbre conçu pour recevoir un couple d'entrée en provenance d'un premier composant de véhicule, un second arbre conçu pour recevoir sélectivement le couple en provenance du premier arbre et transmettre le couple à un second composant de véhicule, un mécanisme de mise en prise, un boîtier conçu pour renfermer au moins une partie de l'unité de transfert d'énergie, et un système de joints comportant un premier joint et un second joint. Le mécanisme de mise en prise est conçu pour fonctionner dans un premier mode et un second mode. Lorsqu'il est dans le premier mode, le mécanisme de mise en prise accouple sélectivement le second arbre au premier arbre, et lorsqu'il est dans le second mode, le second arbre est découplé du premier arbre. Le premier joint est disposé entre le boîtier et une première extrémité du second arbre, et le second joint est disposé entre le boîtier et une seconde extrémité du second arbre.
