The electrically heated catalyst is provided with: a heat generating body (3), which generates heat when a current is carried; the case (5), which houses the heat generating body (3); inner tubes (4), which are provided between the heat generating body (3) and the case (5); and electric insulating mats (6), which are provided between the heat generating body (3) and the inner tubes (4), and between the inner tubes (4) and the case (5). The inner tubes (4) protrude in the upstream and downstream in the exhaust flow direction from the mats (6). The inner tube is composed of at least two substances having different heat conductivities, and a substance (42) having a lower heat conductivity is disposed on the inner side of the surface, and a substance (41) having a higher heat conductivity is disposed to surround the substance having the lower heat conductivity.
