(EN)Embodiments presented herein provide a new approach for high-performance lithium-sulfur battery by using novel carbon-metal oxide-sulfur composites. The composites may be prepared by encapsulating sulfur particles in bifunctional carbon-supported metal oxide or other porous carbon-metal oxide composites. In this way, the porous carbon-metal oxide composite confines sulfur particles within its tunnels and maintain the electrical contact during cycling. Furthermore, the uniformly embedded metal oxides in the structure strongly adsorb polysulfide intermediates, avoid dissolution loss of sulfur, and ensure high coulombic efficiency as well as a long cycle life.
(FR)L'invention porte sur des modes de réalisation qui fournissent une nouvelle approche pour une batterie lithium-soufre à haute performance par utilisation de nouveaux composites carbone-oxyde métallique-soufre. Les composites peuvent être préparés par encapsulation de particules de soufre dans des composites bi-fonctionnels carbone-oxyde métallique supporté ou autres composites poreux carbone-oxyde métallique. De cette manière, le composite poreux carbone-oxyde métallique confine des particules de soufre à l'intérieur de ses tunnels et maintient le contact électrique pendant le cycle. De plus, les particules métalliques uniformément intégrées dans la structure adsorbent fortement des intermédiaires polysulfures, évitent une perte de soufre par dissolution et assurent un rendement coulombien élevé ainsi qu'une longue vie de cycle.
