Abstract:
The present technology relates to an image processor and a method capable of improving coding efficiency. A mode limit level controller (321) adaptively controls an intra-prediction mode used in intra-prediction performed by an intra-prediction unit (314), and a binarization code length allocated by a reversible coder (306) to designated information of the optimal intra-prediction mode. The intra-prediction unit (314) performs intra-prediction in an intra-prediction mode permitted by the mode limit level controller (321) and selects the optimal intra-prediction mode. The reversible coder (306) binarizes and encodes the designated information of the optimal intra-prediction mode at the code length designated by the mode limit level controller (321). The present technology can be applied to, for example, an image processor.
