(EN)The present invention relates to adding biomass, more precisely sucrose, which can be sugar, soy molasses, sugar cane molasses or another type of molasses, to the water used in the process of quenching coke that is produced in vertical or horizontal furnaces. The biomass may be added manually or automatically, i.e. the sugar and/or molasses is added to the container holding the water and the mixture is produced by diluting the biomass in the water. The percentage of biomass added to the water is between 5 and 30%. The carbon present in the biomass is deposited on the surface of the coke lumps, resulting in an increase in the impact and abrasion strength (an increase in the Drum index or Micum) of the coke, which reduces breaking up of said coke lumps during handling from the production site to the consumer. Said increase in the strength of the coke lumps has the benefit of resulting in an increase in the average size of the lumps, reducing the emission of fine particles into the atmosphere. Said increase in the average size of the coke lumps leads to improved pig iron production in a tall furnace.
(FR)La présente invention concerne l'addition de biomasse, plus précisément de saccharose, pouvant être du sucre, de la mélasse de soja, de la canne à sucre ou un autre type de mélasse, à l'eau utilisée dans le procédé d'extinction du coke produit dans un four vertical ou horizontal. L'addition de la biomasse peut être manuelle ou automatique, c'est-à-dire que le sucre et/ou la mélasse est versé dans le récipient contenant l'eau et le mélange est réalisé par dilution de la biomasse dans l'eau. Le pourcentage de biomasse additionnée à l'eau est compris entre 5 et 30%. Le carbone contenu dans la biomasse est déposé sur la surface du fragment de coke, ce qui permet d'obtenir une élévation de la résistance au choc et à l'abrasion (élévation du Drum Index ou indice Micum) du coke, d'où une réduction de la dégradation des fragments de coke dans le procédé de manipulation entre le lieu de production et le lieu de consommation. Cette augmentation de résistance des fragments de coke permet avantageusement d'obtenir une élévation de la taille moyenne des fragments et une réduction de l'émission de particules dans l'atmosphère. Cette augmentation de la taille moyenne des fragments de coke donne lieu à une amélioration dans le procédé de production du fer en gueuse dans le haut fourneau.
(PT)A presente invenção consiste na adição de biomassa, mais precisamente sacarose, que pode ser açúcar, melaço de soja, cana de açúcar ou outro tipo de melaço na água utilizada no processo de apagamento do coque produzido em forno vertical ou horizontal. A adição da biomassa pode ser manualmente ou automaticamente, ou seja o açúcar e ou melaço é descarregado no recipiente contendo água e a mistura é feita através da diluição da biomassa na água. A percentagem de biomassa adicionada à água é feita entre 5 e 30%. O carbono contido na biomassa é depositado na superfície da pedra de coque, proporcionando uma elevação da resistência ao impacto e a abrasão (elevação do Drum índex ou Micum) do coque que reduz a degradação das pedras de coque no processo de manuseio entre o local de produção até o local de consumo. Esse aumento de resistência nas pedras de coque traz como benefício uma elevação do tamanho médio das pedras, uma redução na emissão de partículas finas para a atmosfera. Esse aumento no tamanho médio das pedras de coque irá proporcionar uma melhora no processo de produção do ferro gusa no alto forno.
