Provided is a honeycomb structure (100) provided with: a tubular honeycomb structure section (4) having an outer wall (3) and porous partitions (1) that compartmentalize/form a plurality of cells (2); and a pair of electrode sections (21) provided to the side surface (5) of the honeycomb structure section (4). The electrical resistivity of the honeycomb structure section (4) is 1-200 Ωcm. Each of the pair of electrode sections (21) is formed in a band shape extending in the direction of extension of the cells (2). In a cross section perpendicular to the direction of extension of the cells (2), one of the electrode sections (21) is disposed at the opposing side sandwiching the center of the honeycomb structure section (4) with respect to the other electrode section (21). The distance from one end (4a) of the honeycomb structure section (4) in the direction of extension of the cells (2) to the end of the electrode section (21) facing the one end (4a) side of the honeycomb structure section (4) in the direction of extension of the cells (2) is 1-10% of the length of the honeycomb structure section (4) in the direction of extension of the cells (2). Provided is a honeycomb structure that is a catalyst carrier and also functions as a heater by means of the application of voltage, and that further has superior thermal shock characteristics.

L'invention concerne une structure en nid d'abeilles (100) qui est équipée : d'une partie structure en nid d'abeilles (4) en forme de tubes qui possède des parois de séparation (1) poreuses définissant et formant une pluralité de cellules (2), et une paroi périphérique externe (3); et d'une paire de parties électrode (21) placée sur une face latérale (5) de la partie structure en nid d'abeilles (4). La résistivité électrique de la partie structure en nid d'abeilles (4), est égale à 1 à 200Ωcm. Chacune des parties électrode (21) formant une paire, est formée en bande se prolongeant dans la direction de prolongement des cellules (2). Dans une section perpendiculaire à la direction de prolongement des cellules (2), une des parties électrodes (21) est placée côté opposé à l'autre partie électrode (21), enserrant ainsi le centre de la partie structure en nid d'abeilles (4). La distance depuis une des parties extrémité (4a) de la partie structure en nid d'abeilles (4) dans la direction de prolongement des cellules (2), jusqu'à une partie extrémité de partie électrodes (21) dirigée du côté d'une des parties extrémité (4a) de la partie structure en nid d'abeilles (4) dans la direction de prolongement des cellules (2), équivaut à 1 à 10% de la longueur de la partie structure en nid d'abeilles (4) dans la direction de prolongement des cellules (2). Ainsi, l'invention fournit une structure en nid d'abeilles qui tout en constituant un support de catalyseur fonctionne en tant qu'élément chauffant par application d'une tension, et qui présente en outre une excellente résistance au choc thermique.
