Abstract

This is an electrolytic apparatus and process for the production of Hypochlorous Acid (HClO) and Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) in a closed-loop arrangement. A brine solution in an electrolyzer cell is subjected to an electric current, causing HClO and /or NaOH to be produced in water circulated through the cell. The produced solution is recirculated through the cell as its chemical properties are monitored by a sensor, connected by a controller which controls a recirculating pump and the electric current, until the sensor indicates that the concentration of the solution has reached a desired value, and the controller stops the process.

L'invention concerne un appareil et un procédé d'électrolyse permettant de produire de l'acide hypochloreux (HClO) et de l'hydroxyde de sodium (NaOH) dans un arrangement à circuit fermé. Une solution de saumure dans une cellule d'électrolyseur est soumise à un courant électrique, ce qui entraîne la production de HClO et/ou de NaOH dans l'eau circulant à travers la cellule. La solution produite est remise en circulation à travers la cellule tandis que ses propriétés chimiques sont surveillées par un capteur connecté à un dispositif de commande, qui commande une pompe de recirculation et le courant électrique, jusqu'à ce que le capteur indique que la concentration de la solution a atteint une valeur souhaitée et que le dispositif de commande arrête le processus.
