Systems, methods and devices are provided to reduce change latency and/or to provide a picture-in-picture (PIP) feature within a placeshifted media stream. As the viewer receives a primary stream containing selected programming, secondary programming that is likely to be of interest to the user is predicted. A secondary stream containing the predicted content is obtained at the same time as the primary stream selected by the user. The secondary stream may be of lower quality than the primary stream to preserve network bandwidth. If the user subsequently selects the predicted secondary content, the previously-obtained content can be quickly provided as an output to the display. Alternately, the primary and secondary streams may be simultaneously output to the display in PIP or another manner.

L'invention porte sur des systèmes, des procédés et des dispositifs permettant de réduire la latence de changement et/ou d'offrir une fonction d'incrustation d'image (PIP) dans un flux multimédia en accès délocalisé. A mesure que le spectateur reçoit un flux primaire contenant une programmation sélectionnée, une programmation secondaire qui est susceptible de présenter un intérêt pour l'utilisateur est prédite. Un flux secondaire contenant le contenu prédit est obtenu en même temps que le flux primaire sélectionné par l'utilisateur. Le flux secondaire peut être de plus basse qualité que le flux primaire, afin de préserver la bande passante de réseau. Si l'utilisateur sélectionne ultérieurement le contenu secondaire prédit, le contenu précédemment obtenu peut être rapidement fourni en sortie au dispositif d'affichage. En variante, les flux primaire et secondaire peuvent être simultanément délivrés au dispositif d'affichage en PIP ou d'une autre manière.
