Abstract

A process for preparing a dispersion of encapsulated solid particles in a predominantly organic liquid vehicle, comprising the following steps: i)providing a dispersion comprising a particulate solid, a liquid medium and a polymeric dispersant having at least 3.0 mmoles of reactive groups per g of dispersant; ii)cross-linking the polymeric dispersant via at least some, but not all, of the reactive groups, said cross-linking being performed in the presence of the particulate solid and the liquid medium and resulting in the encapsulation of each solid particle with a cross-linked polymeric dispersant shell; iii) covalently bonding an end-capping agent to the polymeric dispersant via the reactive groups; said process being such that the final organic liquid vehicle comprises one or more organic liquids and optionally water, provided that water is present at no more than 30% by weight based on the dispersion.

L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation d'une dispersion de particules solides encapsulées dans un véhicule liquide essentiellement organique, comprenant les étapes suivantes : i) obtention d'une dispersion comprenant un solide particulaire, un milieu liquide et un dispersant polymère comprenant au moins 3,0 mmoles de groupes réactifs par g de dispersant ; ii) réticulation du dispersant polymère par au moins certains des groupes réactifs, mais pas tous, ladite réticulation étant effectuée en présence du solide particulaire et du milieu liquide et permettant l'encapsulation de chaque particule solide avec une enveloppe de dispersant polymère réticulé ; iii) la liaison par covalence d'un agent de coiffage d'extrémité au dispersant polymère par les groupes réactifs ; ledit procédé étant tel que le véhicule liquide organique final comprend un ou plusieurs liquides organiques et éventuellement de l'eau, sous réserve que l'eau ne soit pas présente à plus de 30 % en poids par rapport à la dispersion.
