Provided is a transformant having phenol-producing capability, wherein the gene that encodes an enzyme having tyrosine phenol-lyase activity has been introduced to a host Coryneform bacterium. Also provided is a method for producing phenol comprising: a step for reacting this transformant in a reaction solution containing tyrosine, a salt thereof, or an ester thereof under reduction conditions; and a step for recovering the phenol in a reaction culture medium.

L'invention concerne un transformé capable de produire un phénol, et dans lequel un gène qui code un enzyme possédant une activité de tyrosine phénol-lyase, est introduit dans une bactérie corynéforme hôte. L'invention concerne également un procédé de fabrication de phénol qui comporte : une étape au cours de laquelle ce transformé est mis en réaction à l'intérieur d'une solution de réaction comprenant une tyrosine, un sel de celle-ci ou un ester de celle-ci, dans des conditions de réduction; et une étape au cours de laquelle le phénol est recueilli dans le milieu de réaction.
