[Problem] To provide a method for manufacturing a telescopic shaft having a coated section which reduces sliding resistance, the telescopic shaft being configured in such a manner that a variation in the sliding resistance depending on the position of sliding of the telescopic shaft is reduced and that lubricating oil exhibits satisfactory lubricating performance. [Solution] Clearance sections (613) are formed in a coated section (61) so that portions of the tooth flanks (412) of the tooth grooves (41) of a female shaft (16B), the portions being located near the tooth tops (411A) between the tooth grooves (41), do not come into contact with portions of the coated section (61) on the tooth flanks of protruding teeth (51), the portions being located near the roots of the protruding teeth (51). The amount of plastic deformation obtained by compressing the coated section (61) by subjecting an intermediate shaft (16) to break-in operation is in the range from 1 micrometer to 10 micrometers. This means that the depth (α1) of the clearance sections (613) before the coated section (61) is plastically deformed by compressive stress applied thereto is preferably 10 micrometers or greater. Even after the coated section (61) is plastically deformed, the clearance sections (613) are maintained recessed from a plastically deformable surface (614) by a depth (α2).

L'invention vise à proposer un procédé pour fabriquer un arbre télescopique ayant une section revêtue qui réduit la résistance au glissement, l'arbre télescopique étant construit de sorte qu'une variation de la résistance au glissement qui dépend de la position de glissement de l'arbre télescopique soit réduite et qu'une huile lubrifiante présente une performance de lubrification satisfaisante. A cet effet, des sections à espace libre (613) sont formées dans une section revêtue (61) de sorte que des parties des flancs de dents (412) de gorges de dents (41) d'un arbre femelle (16B), ces parties étant situées à proximité des sommets de dents (411A) entre les gorges de dents (41), n'entrent pas en contact avec des parties de la section revêtue (61) des flancs de dents des dents saillantes (51), les parties étant placées près des bases des dents en relief (51). L'amplitude de déformation plastique obtenue par la compression de la section revêtue (61), réalisée en soumettant un arbre intermédiaire (16) à une opération d'insertion, est dans l'intervalle de 1 micromètre à 10 micromètres. Ceci signifie que la profondeur (α1) des sections à espace libre (613), avant que la section revêtue (61) subisse la déformation plastique par une contrainte de compression qui y est appliquée, est, de préférence, de 10 micromètres ou plus. Même après que la section revêtue (61) a subi la déformation plastique, les sections à espace libre (613) sont maintenues en retrait d'une profondeur (α2) de la surface déformable par déformation plastique (614).

【課題】摺動抵抗を減少させる被覆部を有する伸縮軸であって、伸縮軸の摺動位置による摺動抵抗の変動を小さくするとともに、潤滑油の潤滑性能を良好にした伸縮軸の製造方法を提供する。 【解決手段】被覆部61には、突条歯51の歯元近傍の歯面の被覆部61に、雌シャフト16Bの歯溝41の歯先411A近傍の歯面412が当接しないように逃げ部613を形成する。中間シャフト16を慣らし運転し、被覆部61を圧縮して塑性変形させる量は、1ミクロンから10ミクロンである。従って、被覆部61に圧縮応力を付与して、被覆部61を塑性変形させる前の逃げ部613の逃げ量α1は10ミクロン以上が好ましい。被覆部61が塑性変形した後でも、逃げ部613が逃げ量α2だけ塑性変形面614よりも凹んだ状態が維持される。
