A process for preparing high molecular weight acyclic polyamines comprising providing a reaction mixture that includes at least a first component comprising a first organic, nitrogen-containing compound that contains at least two non-tertiary amine groups separated from one another by a ternary or higher carbon atom spacing that can be transaminated in the presence of a hydrogenation/dehydrogenation catalyst to form a mixture of higher molecular weight, acyclic polyamines while minimizing the formation of cyclic polyamines.

L'invention concerne un procédé de préparation de polyamines acycliques comprenant l'apport d'un mélange réactionnel qui comprend au moins un premier composant comprenant un premier composé organique contenant de l'azote qui contient au moins deux groupes amines non tertiaires séparés l'un de l'autre par un espacement d'atomes de carbone ternaire ou plus long, qui peut être transaminé en présence d'un catalyseur d'hydrogénation/déshydrogénation pour former un mélange de polyamines acycliques de poids moléculaires plus élevés tout en réduisant au minimum la formation de polyamines cycliques.
