Particular embodiments of the present disclosure relate systems and methods for evaluating visible light sources. According to one embodiment, a method of evaluating a visible light source including a semiconductor laser having a gain section, a wavelength selective section, and a phase section includes applying a gain drive signal to the gain section of the semiconductor laser at a gain modulation frequency, and applying a triangular wave drive signal to the wavelength selective section of the semiconductor laser at a wavelength selective modulation frequency that is greater than the gain modulation frequency. The light source emits a plurality of optical output pulses. Output power values of the optical output pulses at a selected wavelength are detected. The output power value of selected output pulses is compared with an output power threshold value indicating whether the visible light source satisfies an output power specification.

Des modes de réalisation particuliers de la présente invention concernent des systèmes et des procédés d'évaluation de sources de lumière visible. Selon un mode de réalisation, un procédé d'évaluation d'une source de lumière visible comprenant un laser à semi-conducteurs comportant une section de gain, une section de sélection de longueur d'onde, et une section de phase, comprend les étapes suivantes : application d'un signal de commande de gain sur la section de gain du laser à semi-conducteurs à une fréquence de modulation de gain; et application d'un signal de commande d'onde triangulaire sur la section de sélection de longueur d'onde du laser à semi-conducteurs à une fréquence de modulation de sélection de longueur d'onde qui est supérieure à la fréquence de modulation de gain. La source de lumière émet une pluralité d'impulsions de sortie optique. Les valeurs de puissance de sortie des impulsions de sortie optique à une longueur d'onde sélectionnée sont détectées.
