This invention concerns the telecommunications sector and more specifically that of digital communication systems, disclosing a new method for generating eye diagrams asynchronously. This method makes it possible, without the use of recovery techniques or clock-signal synchronization that normally require high-speed electronics and complex synchronization mechanisms, to monitor signal quality (related to measurements of the quality factor Q) or performance quality (related to the degree of impact that signal-transmission impediments, such as crosstalk between channels and scattering,, inter alia, have on the communication system) of the communication channel, regardless of the transmission rate or modulation format and without prior knowledge of either of the two parameters mentioned. This method uses a power splitter that splits the power of the data signal into two parts, sending each of the two parts to two branches, the first branch being linked to a sampling and on-screen-display device (such as an oscilloscope) and the second branch being connected to a differentiator that differentiates the signal over time and also sends it to the sampling and on-screen-display device. The samples taken from the first branch are preferably shown as a function of the samples taken from the second branch, the first branch being the ordinate and the second branch being the abscissa of a point shown in a two-axis system.

La présente invention concerne le domaine des télécommunications, et plus particulièrement le domaine des systèmes de communication numériques, un nouveau procédé de génération de diagrammes de l'oeil en mode asynchrone étant décrit. Ce procédé permet, sans utilisation de techniques de récupération et de synchronisation avec le signal d'horloge qui requièrent normalement une électronique haute vitesse et des mécanismes complexes de synchronisme, de surveiller la qualité du signal (associée aux mesures du facteur de qualité Q) ou de la performance (associée au degré d'impact que les obstacles à la transmission de signal, tels que la diaphonie entre canaux, la dispersion et analogues, présentent dans le système de communication) du canal de communication, indépendamment du débit de transmission ou du format de modulation et sans connaissance préalable des deux paramètres susmentionnés. Ce procédé fait intervenir un diviseur de puissance qui divise la puissance du signal de données en deux parties, envoyant chacune des deux parties vers deux ramifications, la première étant reliée à un dispositif d'échantillonnage et de représentation sur écran (par ex., un oscilloscope) et la seconde à un dispositif de différenciation qui différencie le signal dans le temps et l'envoie également vers le dispositif d'échantillonnage et de représentation sur écran. Les échantillons capturés à partir de la première ramification sont représentés, de préférence, en fonction des échantillons extraits de la seconde ramification, la première étant l'ordonnée et la seconde l'abscisse d'un point représenté sur un système à deux axes.

A presente invenção diz respeito à área das telecomunicações, mais concretamente a area dos sistemas de comunicação digitais, descrevendo-se um novo método de geração de diagramas de olho em modo assíncrono. Este procedimento permite que, sem o uso de técnicas de recuperação e sincronização com o sinal de relόgio que normalmente requerem electrόnica de alta velocidade e complexos mecanismos de sincronismo, fazer a monitoria da qualidade do sinal (relacionada com as medições do factor de qualidade Q) ou do desempenho (relacionado com o grau de impacto que os impedimentos à transmissão de sinal, como a diafonia entre canais, a dispersão e outros, têm no sistema de comunicação) do canal de comunicação, independentemente do ritmo de transmissão ou do formato de modulação e sem o conhecimento prévio de nenhum dos dois parâmetros referidos. Este método emprega um divisor de potência que divide a potência do sinal de dados em duas partes, enviando cada uma das duas partes para duas ramificações, estando a primeira ligada a um dispositivo de amostragem e representação no ecrã (exemplo osciloscόpio) e a segunda a um diferenciador que diferencia o sinal no tempo e o envia também para o dispositivo de amostragem e representação no ecrã. As amostras capturadas da primeira são representadas, preferencialmente, em função das amostras retiradas da segunda ramificação, sendo a primeira a ordenada e a segunda a abcissa de um ponto representado num sistema de dois eixos.
