An electrowetting optical element comprising a first electrode layer stack and a second electrode layer stack, and a containment space formed between said first electrode layer stack and said second electrode layer stack, one or more pixel walls fixedly mounted on said second interface surface and extending between said first and second electrode stacks, for defining sides of said containment space. Said containment space at least contains a polar liquid and a non-polar liquid, the polar and non-polar liquids being immiscible with each other. Said hydrophobic interface surface has a higher hydrophobicity than the second interface surface. The electrowetting element is arranged for enabling powering of said first and second electrode layers for rearranging said polar liquid relative to said non-polar liquid. An end face of said one or more pixel walls opposite said first electrode layer stack faces said hydrophobic interface surface in a loose manner.

L'invention concerne un élément optique à électromouillage comprenant un premier empilement de couches d'électrode et un second empilement de couches d'électrode, un espace de contention formé entre le premier empilement de couches d'électrode et le second empilement de couches d'électrode, et une ou plusieurs parois de pixels montées fixement sur la seconde surface d'interface et s'étendant entre les premier et second empilements d'électrodes afin de définir les côtés de l'espace de contention. L'espace de contention contient au moins un liquide polaire et un liquide non polaire, les liquides polaire et non polaire étant immiscibles. La surface d'interface hydrophobe possède une hydrophobicité supérieure à la seconde surface d'interface. L'élément à électromouillage est conçu de manière à alimenter les première et seconde couches d'électrode afin de réorganiser le liquide polaire par rapport au liquide non polaire. Une face d'extrémité de ladite ou desdites parois de pixels en face du premier empilement de couches d'électrode fait face à la surface d'interface hydrophobe de manière lâche.
