(EN)An optical data system (10) and method (300) are disclosed. An optical data system (10) includes an array (14) of lasers (16, 18) that are modulated by the plurality of modulation signals to provide a plurality of pairs of orthogonally polarized optical data signals. The optical data system (10) further includes an optical multiplexing system (20) to combine each of the pairs of orthogonally polarized optical data signals to provide a plurality of dual-channel optical data signals.
