A carburetor having an inlet opening that includes a pair of concavities operative to direct air toward the metering rod of the carburetor. A carburetor having an inlet opening that includes an arcuate manifold adjacent to the inlet opening and in fluid communication with a fuel reservoir. A carburetor having a slide assembly that includes a positioning mechanism operative to adjust the position of the metering rod relative to the throttle slide. A throttle slide that includes a flow guide that bisects an arcuate relief on an underside thereof. A method for configuring the throat of a carburetor that includes an upper portion of a first diameter and a lower portion of a second diameter that is offset from the first diameter. The method comprises deriving an optimum size for the first and second diameters and the offset based on the pumping efficiency and operating parameters of the engine.

La présente invention se rapporte à un carburateur qui comporte une ouverture d'admission. Ledit carburateur comprend une paire de concavités conçues pour diriger l'air vers la tige de guidage du carburateur. Un carburateur ayant une ouverture d'admission comprend un collecteur en forme d'arc qui est adjacent à l'ouverture d'admission et en communication fluidique avec un réservoir de carburant. Un carburateur ayant un ensemble coulissant comprend un mécanisme de positionnement conçu pour ajuster la position de la tige de guidage par rapport au tiroir d'accélérateur. Le tiroir d'accélérateur comprend un élément de guidage du flux qui coupe en deux un relief en forme d'arc sur une face inférieure de ce dernier. Un procédé permettant de configurer la gorge d'un carburateur comprend une partie supérieure ayant un premier diamètre et une partie inférieure ayant un second diamètre qui est décalé du premier diamètre. Le procédé consiste à trouver une taille maximale pour les premier et second diamètres et le décalage sur la base du rendement de pompage hydrodynamique et des paramètres de fonctionnement du moteur.
