Abstract:
(EN) Devices, systems, and methods are disclosed to offload the usage of a cellular network by intelligent selection of broadband network connections such as Wi-Fi access points. A Wi-Fi transceiver on a mobile device is activated when certain conditions are met, such as a time, location, recognition of a radiofrequency (RF) environment, etc. The conditions are correlated with a database of known locations in which a one or more Wi-Fi access points are determined to exist. The Wi-Fi transceiver on the mobile device is activated and commanded to connect to a particular Wi-Fi access point. Dynamic intelligence ensures that the appropriate connection method is used, and minimizes handovers to networks or access points that are unreliable or that are predicted to become inaccessible to the mobile device.
(FR) L'invention porte sur des dispositifs, des systèmes et des procédés permettant de délester l'utilisation d'un réseau cellulaire par sélection intelligente de connexions de réseau à large bande telles que des points d'accès Wi-Fi. Un émetteur-récepteur Wi-Fi sur un dispositif mobile est activé lorsque certaines conditions sont satisfaites, telles qu'une heure, un lieu, une reconnaissance d'un environnement radiofréquence (RF), etc. Les conditions sont corrélées à une base de données de lieux connus dans lesquels il est déterminé qu'un ou plusieurs points d'accès Wi-Fi existent. L'émetteur-récepteur Wi-Fi sur le dispositif mobile est activé et commandé pour se connecter à un point d'accès Wi-Fi particulier. Une intelligence dynamique assure que le procédé de connexion approprié est utilisé, et réduit au minimum des transferts vers des réseaux ou des points d'accès qui sont peu fiables ou dont on prédit qu'ils deviendront inaccessibles au dispositif mobile.
