Abstract
(EN) A method for routing an electrical conductor through a sub-surface channel in substantially any suitable metallic article of manufacture includes friction stir welding a cap in a groove formed in a surface of the article so as to form the sub-surface channel. An electrical conductor is then routed through the channel. The channel may further include a substantially tubular conduit formed therein with the electrical conductor being routed through the conduit. The friction stir weld zone formed during friction stir welding is generally harder and more wear resistant that the article body.
(FR) Le procédé selon l'invention servant à diriger un conducteur électrique à travers un canal de subsurface dans sensiblement tout article de fabrication métallique approprié consiste à souder par friction-malaxage un couvercle dans un sillon formé dans une surface de l'article de manière à former le canal de subsurface. Un conducteur électrique est alors dirigé à travers le canal. Le canal peut comprendre en outre une conduite sensiblement tubulaire, le conducteur électrique étant dirigé à travers la conduite. La zone de soudure par friction-malaxage formée pendant le soudage par friction-malaxage est généralement plus dure et résistante à l'usure que le corps de l'article.
