The present invention is a method for debottlenecking an existing steam cracker unit of which the operation is modified from high severity to low severity operation, having a cracking zone and a fractionation zone, said fractionation zone comprising a gasoline stripper, a de-methaniser (I), a de-ethaniser (I), a de-propaniser (I) and a de-butaniser (I), said de-propaniser (I) receiving product from the bottom of the de-ethaniser (I) and optionally product from the bottom of the gasoline stripper (I), wherein said debottlenecking method comprises the steps of : a) adding a selective hydrogenation unit (II), b) adding a cracking reactor (II) comprising a catalyst selective towards light olefins in the outlet, c) adding a re-run column and a de-propaniser (II), d) sending a part or all of the bottoms stream of the gasoline stripper (I) to the selective hydrogenation unit (II) and subsequently to the cracking reactor (II) at conditions effective to produce an outlet with an olefin content of lower molecular weight than that of the inlet, e) sending a part of the bottoms stream of the de-ethaniser (I) to the de-propaniser (II), such as, not to overload the de-propaniser (I), f) optionally sending a part or all of the overhead raw C4 fraction of the de-butaniser (I) to the selective hydrogenation unit (II), g) sending the cracking reactor (II) outlet to the re-run column to produce a C6+ bottom stream and a C1-C5 overhead, sending said overhead to the de-propaniser (II) to produce a C1-C3 overhead and a C4+ bottom stream recycled in whole or in part to the selective hydrogenation unit (II), optionally withdrawing a part of said C4+ bottom stream.

La présente invention porte sur un procédé de déblocage d'une unité de vapocraquage existante dont le fonctionnement est modifié d'un fonctionnement à sévérité élevée à un fonctionnement à faible sévérité, qui possède une zone de craquage et une zone de fractionnement, ladite zone de fractionnement comportant une unité de dégazolinage, un déméthaniseur (I), un déséthaniseur (I), un dépropaniseur (I) et un débutaniseur (I), ledit dépropaniseur (I) recevant du produit provenant du fond du déséthaniseur (I) et facultativement du produit provenant du fond de l'unité de dégazolinage (I). Ledit procédé de déblocage consiste : a) à ajouter une unité d'hydrogénation sélective (II), b) à ajouter un réacteur de craquage (II) comportant un catalyseur sélectif envers des oléfines légères dans la sortie, c) à ajouter une colonne de re-distillation et un dépropaniseur (II), d) à envoyer une partie ou la totalité du courant de fond de l'unité de dégazolinage (I) vers l'unité d'hydrogénation sélective (II) et par la suite vers le réacteur de craquage (II) dans des conditions efficaces de façon à produire une sortie ayant une teneur en oléfines de masse moléculaire plus faible que celle de l'entrée, e) à envoyer une partie du courant de fond du déséthaniseur (I) vers le dépropaniseur (II), de façon à ne pas surcharger le dépropaniseur (I), f) facultativement à envoyer une partie ou la totalité de la fraction de C4 brute de tête du débutaniseur (I) vers l'unité d'hydrogénation sélective (II), g) à envoyer la sortie du réacteur de craquage (II) vers la colonne de re-distillation afin de produire un courant de fond de C6+ et un produit de tête de C1-C5, à envoyer ledit produit de tête vers le dépropaniseur (II) afin de produire un produit de tête de C1-C3 et un produit de fond de C4+ recyclé en totalité ou en partie vers l'unité d'hydrogénation sélective (II), facultativement à soutirer une partie dudit courant de fond de C4+.
