Abstract:
(EN) A microwave applicator for insertion into living body tissue to provide microwave ablation treatments includes a microwave transmission line extending between an attachment end of the applicator and an antenna toward an insertion end of the applicator with an outer conductive sleeve forming an enclosed fluid space around the transmission line. Circulation of cooling fluid is guided in the fluid space by a guide sleeve. A sensor senses the approximate temperature of the cooling fluid. A portion of the fluid can be injected into tissue surrounding the applicator to hydrate tissue not to be treated. Microwave power may be provided to one or more of the applicators by a system which includes a multiplexing and power splitting circuit providing power outputs tuned for either one or a plurality of applicators and detects the number of applicators and correct connection. The system may provide microwave energy of both 915 MHz and 2450 MHz.
(FR) L'invention porte sur un applicateur de micro-ondes destiné à être inséré dans un tissu corporel vivant pour procéder à des traitements d'ablation par micro-ondes, l'applicateur comprenant une ligne de transmission de micro-ondes s'étendant entre une extrémité de fixation de l'applicateur et une antenne vers une extrémité d'insertion de l'applicateur, avec une gaine conductrice extérieure qui forme un espace de fluide fermé autour de la ligne de transmission. La circulation d'un fluide de refroidissement est guidée dans l'espace de fluide par une gaine de guidage. Un capteur capte la température approximative du fluide de refroidissement. Une partie du fluide peut être injectée dans le tissu qui entoure l'applicateur pour hydrater le tissu qui ne doit pas être traité. L'énergie à micro-ondes peut être fournie à un ou plusieurs des applicateurs par un système qui comprend un circuit de multiplexage et de division de puissance qui fournit des sorties de puissance accordées soit pour un applicateur, soit pour une pluralité d'applicateurs, et qui détecte le nombre d'applicateurs et la connexion correcte. Le système peut fournir une énergie à micro-ondes de 915 MHz et une de 2 450 MHz.
