A mutual capacitance sensor device comprises a plurality of receiver sensor electrodes, a plurality of transmitter sensor electrodes, and a processing system coupled with the plurality of receiver sensor electrodes and coupled with the plurality of transmitter sensor electrodes. The processing system is configured for acquiring a capacitive image from the pluralities of sensor electrodes. The processing system is also configured for correlating a part of the capacitive image with at least one input object template image to determine both a presence and a type of an input object interacting with the mutual capacitance sensor device.

Selon l'invention, un dispositif capteur à capacité mutuelle comprend une pluralité d'électrodes de détection réceptrices, une pluralité d'électrodes de détection émettrices et un système de traitement couplé avec la pluralité d'électrodes de détection réceptrices et couplé avec la pluralité d'électrodes de détection émettrices. Le système de traitement est configuré de façon à acquérir une image capacitive de la pluralité d'électrodes de détection. Le système de traitement est également configuré de façon à corréler une partie de l'image capacitive avec au moins une image de modèle d'objet entrant, afin de déterminer à la fois la présence et le type de l'objet entrant interagissant avec le dispositif capteur à capacité mutuelle.
