A display apparatus comprises: an RGB sensor (38) for measuring ambient illuminance and color temperature; a view environment information receiving unit (60) for acquiring the measured illuminance and color temperature; a view environment determining unit (39) for determining, based on a predetermined determination reference, a view environment from the illuminance and color temperature; an LCD (82) for displaying a result of the determination carried out by the view environment determining unit (39); a determination reference change instruction accepting unit (83) for accepting the input of an instruction for changing the determination reference; and a picture quality processing unit (73) for changing, based on the result of the determination carried out by the view environment determining unit (39), the picture quality of images to be displayed. The display apparatus allows a viewer to correct an error of view environment determination based on the predetermined determination reference.
