In engineering of industrial systems and plants but also in the product development the data of different disciplines and roles are grouped along their structures and classification systems. Right now, there is normally a leading aspect for each discipline (e.g. based on mechanical components or functional aspects), after which the data is structured. Through the increased integration of disciplines or also orthogonal functions it is also necessary to support orthogonal structures and classification systems in parallel. To support a leading structure to integrate all the different disciplines, a concept of mechatronic objects is established. A mechatronic object can carry different facets e.g. one facet for each discipline. The facets contain the data for a discipline, while the mechatronic object structure aggregates and connects the data. A mechatronic object describes an element in engineering, like a machine. If the machines are integrated in an assembly line, the mechatronic objects (MO) of the machines can be aggregated in a parent mechatronic object for the assembly line. The concept normally depends on that the mechatronic objects have defined interfaces which can be interconnected, so encapsulation of information is possible. Based on workflow information and aspects included in mechatronic objects the workflow for product development or for the design or the operation of an industrial system can be generated.

Dans l'ingénierie des systèmes industriels et des usines, mais également dans le développement des produits, on groupe les données de différentes disciplines et rôles conjointement avec leurs structures et systèmes de classification. A l'heure actuelle, il existe normalement un aspect principal pour chaque discipline (par exemple basé sur des composants mécaniques ou des aspects fonctionnels), sur la base duquel les données sont structurées. Du fait de l'intégration accrue de disciplines ou également de fonctions orthogonales, il est également nécessaire d'assister en parallèle des structures orthogonales et des systèmes de classification. Pour assister une structure importante afin d'intégrer toutes les différentes disciplines, on établit un concept d'objets mécatroniques. Un objet mécatronique peut porter différentes facettes, par exemple une facette pour chaque discipline. Les facettes contiennent les données se rapportant à une discipline, tandis que l'objet mécatronique et la structure d'objets mécatroniques agrègent et connectent les données. Un objet mécatronique décrit un élément d'ingénierie, tel qu'une machine. Si les machines sont intégrées dans une chaîne d'assemblage, on peut agréger les objets mécatroniques (MO) des machines dans un objet mécatronique parent pour la chaîne d'assemblage. Le concept dépend normalement de ce que les objets mécatroniques ont des interfaces définies pouvant être interconnectées, de telle sorte qu'une encapsulation d'informations est possible. Sur la base d'informations de chaîne de production et d'aspects inclus dans les objets mécatroniques, on peut générer la chaîne de production pour le développement d'un produit ou pour la conception ou l'exploitation d'un système industriel.
