According to the invention, the long product to be coated (in particular a moving steel wire being) is dipped into a zinc alloy bath and, upon the exit thereof from the bath, the coated product is cooled, characterized in that said zinc alloy bath includes, in weight percent, 4 to 8% of aluminum and 0.2 to 0.7% of magnesium, and in that said cooling is supervised so as to impart, to said metal coating, a homogeneous microstructure having a phase portion β greater than around 25 vol %. The resulting coated product has high resistance to corrosion, in particular in a saline medium, and at the same time has a high metallurgical quality and protected wear properties, and the implementation of the method for producing same does not present any particular difficulties with regard to the known dip coating techniques.

On trempe le produit long à revêtir (un fil d'acier en défilement notamment) dans un bain d'alliage de zinc et, à sa sortie du bain, on refroidit le produit revêtu, caractérisé en ce que ledit bain d'alliage de zinc comprend, en pourcentages pondéraux, de 4 à 8 % d'aluminium et de 0,2 à 0,7 % de magnésium, et en ce que ledit refroidissement est contrôlé pour donner audit revêtement métallique une microstructure homogène dotée d'une portion de phase β supérieure à 25% environ en volume. Le produit revêtu obtenu présente une bonne résistance à la corrosion, en milieu salin en particulier, en même temps qu'une bonne qualité métallurgique et des propriétés d'usage préservées, et la mise en œuvre de son procédé d'obtention ne présente aucune difficultés particulières par rapport aux techniques connues de revêtement au trempé.
