A high-pressure piston pump (1) for supplying fuel, preferably diesel, to an internal-combustion engine has a pump casing (2); a first piston (4) and a second piston (4) movable along a first axis (A1) and a second axis (A2), respectively; and a driving device (5) comprising a shaft (10) rotating about a third axis (A3) and a polygonal ring (12) mounted rotatably about an eccentric portion (11) of the shaft (10) to drive the first and second pistons (4); in which the first and second axes (A1, A2) are on opposite sides of the third axis (A3), are parallel to each other and separated from each other by a distance (D) such that the ratio (R) of the eccentricity (E) of the eccentric portion (11), to the distance (D) between the first and second axes (A1, A2) is in a range from 0.8:1 to 1:1.

L'invention porte sur une pompe à piston à haute pression (1) destinée à fournir du carburant, de préférence diesel, à un moteur à combustion interne, qui comporte un carter de pompe (2); un premier piston (4) et un second piston (4) mobiles le long d'un premier axe (A1) et d'un second axe (A2) respectivement; et un dispositif d'entraînement (5) comprenant un arbre (10) qui tourne autour d'un troisième axe (A3) et une bague polygonale (12) montée rotative autour d'une partie excentrique (11) de l'arbre (10) pour entraîner les premier et second pistons (4); les premier et second axes (A1, A2) se trouvent sur des côtés opposés du troisième axe (A3), sont parallèles entre eux et séparés l'un de l'autre par une distance (D) telle que le rapport (R) de l'excentricité (E) de la partie excentrique (11) à la distance (D) entre les premier et second axes (A1, A2) se situe dans l'intervalle de 0,8:1 à 1:1.
